Our group has signed up with Code For America and the IRS in order to provide certified partner tax assistance with no contact. This is an excellent opportunity for those who need a little more help with their returns to get contact free help.
Beginning 1/31/2022, you may open an online account and begin uploading your tax information to secure servers. You fill out virtual intake documents similar to what you complete at a physical VITA site. With either a camera phone or web cam, you take pictures of your documents to be added to your online file as well. If you have questions, or need help getting your pictures added to your account, you can contact volunteers via the website for more help.
Volunteers from around the state (including some Fort Collins volunteers) complete and double check your return. During this process, you may be contacted to clarify any information.
Once the return is complete, you are contacted to review the return and authorize the e-file. You receive a digital copy of the return to print or store with your records. Once you digitally sign the authorization to e-file, your return is submitted to the IRS and state for processing.
