Foreign Students and Scholars TY 2023 Information.

Please read all the instructions below before contacting us to request an appointment.  FOR NONRESIDENTS ONLY, contact us at (970)599-1765 to request an appointment.  WE ARE NOT SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS UNTIL MID MAY.  This is not a live answered line.  You must leave a message so we can call you back.

PLEASE FILL OUT FORM 8843 BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT CALL.  We need your Visa type, the name of the country you resided in just before you came to CSU, details of the days you’ve spent in the United States in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and the type of Visa you held in each year from 2017 to 2022.  Your answers will determine what treaty benefits apply and allow us to prepare for your appointment.

 

We will try to schedule your appointment for the next available session after your call if there are appointments available.  Appointments take about 1.5 hours.  You must be able to participate throughout this process please leave adequate time.

 

We will e-file your nonresident return unless the IRS requires the return be mailed.

Please arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment. Unless you have the required paperwork filled out and complete, you will lose your appointment! Copies of the required paperwork is attached.  Bring physical, printed copies of all your documents.

 Required paperwork:

– Completed 13614NR Nonresident Alien Intake and Interview Sheet (please type)

– Completed 8843 Statement for Exempt Individuals (please type)

Consents for us to prepare and e-file your taxes

– W-2 Wage and Tax Statements and any other income tax documents

–       Any other official tax documents received for 2023.  CLICK HERE to see a more inclusive checklist.

– 1098-T Tuition Statement and accounting statements from all schools attended during the tax year

– 1042-S Foreign Persons U.S. Source Income forms (not available until after 2- 15. If you have this form coming, sign up AFTER you receive the forms)

– Passport and Visa

– Social Security card for anyone expected to be named on the tax return

– Driver’s license or state ID (if you have one, it will speed your Colorado refund)
